How to Help

November 15, 2010 Dear Friend, Each year we look around our Thanksgiving tables and are warmed by the faces we see—close family, distant relatives, friends and loved ones. Last year at The Willow Domestic Violence Center, our holiday table included 30 women and children. Each one was there to be safe and secure, seeking a life free from violence. Your generous donations helped keep them safe. Now, as the holiday season quickly approaches, we ask you to once again keep The Willow Domestic Violence Center top-of-mind for your year-end charitable giving. It’s been a good year for the organization. In addition to our move to more accommodating offices on Moodie Road, we also were able to install a new roof, security system, sump pump and carpet at our Safe House, thanks to a combination of public support and grants received in 2010. These improvements not only make the shelter safer for our residents; they make it a more comfortable and welcoming home during their transition. But please don’t think these improvements mean we no longer need your support. Demand for assistance is high. Your continued donations will help us pay for—among many other things—meals for survivors and their children, warmth in the shelter this winter, supplies for children’s art therapy, and advocacy and empowerment services for survivors. In short, your donations help keep us running. And they allow us to continue providing life-saving services, which survivors in our community need. During the next several months, you’ll be hearing a lot about The Willow Domestic Violence Center as we organize and promote our first annual fun fundraiser, “Walk A Mile in Her Shoes”, to be held on May 6 at Haskell Stadium. You won’t want to miss our 2011 Calendar, picturing leaders from our community “in her shoes” to raise awareness about domestic violence. But you don’t need to wait for these opportunities to give. Please use the Paypal link on the right side of this page to make your donation this holiday season, or send your check to the address below. Your contribution means so much to so many. We thank you in advance for your generosity.
Sincerely, Kathy Perkins Board President The Willow Domestic Violence Center
