Jefferson County Ribbon Cutting

The Willow Domestic Violence Center and The Sexual Trauma and Abuse Care Center were excited to hold and open house and ribbon cutting for the public at our new shared location at 313 Jefferson Street in Oskaloosa. The move locates both services on the town square in Oskaloosa, close to downtown services, and providing easy access to services. The new office, located in what was formerly a bakery, is a much larger space than that previously occupied by The Willow, and will allow for the facilitation of larger support groups, meeting space, and event functions in the space. Members from The Willow staff and from The Care Center were available throughout the day to show people around the new offices, and to give tours and information about the services our organizations provide. Domestic violence in rural areas can be complicated by isolation, difficulty accessing help and services, and fears of judgement from close-knit rural communities. Willow advocates provide support in court, at jail support groups, meet with clients individually, and can offer transportation to and from our shelter to those in crisis.
